Wood is a living material, and humans have evolved a special relationship between this particular material and our bodies. While technological developments make this traditionally low-tech material into a digitalised and energy-efficient building material, wood’s naturally smart properties in turn give us healthy interiors, low-maintenance exteriors, and pleasant living spaces. This publication features nine recent wood-based projects by Danish studio Vandkunsten Architects, which has shaped the contemporary use of wood in Nordic architecture for over five decades. Featured projects include the Arctic House in Greenland and flexible housing in Lisbjerg Bakke.
