Cumano Folding Table

The idea of the Cumano Folding Table starts from the desire to revisit the design of an archetype of the late Nineteenth Century, an outdoor folding table. In re-designing this table, Achille Castiglioni focused his attention on the details, to improve and enhance the product’s functionality.

The re-design is aimed at reviving ordinary objects, and adding up to date details, to a well established shape, a classic feature of Castiglioni's work. Hence the typical Paris Bistro Table, reinterpreted as Cumano in its essentials and design details. The joint, designed in a contemporary material to ease movement, and the detail of the hole on the table top, allowing the table to both fold and to hang on the wall.
