There's more than meets the eye with this 2013 Phillippe Starck creation: Illuminating your home with a diffused light, the Biblioteque Nationale also serves as a strikingly modern bookshelf and offers a convenient portable device charger.
The inspiration for this lamp was to invoke the transformative power of literature, artist Phillippe Starck calls Biblioteque Nationale, “A magic bookcase where books take flight towards the light.”
Floor Lamp with base, rod stand, and diffuser made of chrome-plated, die-cast zinc. The internal diffuser and lamp-holder stand are opal color-injected die-stamped PCs, and the upper ring is a clear injection die-stamped PC. Brackets are polished stainless steel.
The external diffusers are available in matching PVC fabric and injection die-stamped methacrylate in silver on the inner surface, by vacuum aluminum coating. A USB outlet placed on the base enables the most common smartphones and tablets to be recharged (max 2A).
