Cecilie Manz’ series of Japanese handmade earthenware for Fritz Hansen Accessories introduces a special glaze, new colours and a new Round vase. The unique glaze and colours truly underlines the craftsmanship that define the Fritz Hansen quality as well as the fascination of and respect for the Japanese ceramics tradition. Like the existing Cecilie Manz earthenware the new vases are handmade at small potteries in Seto, Japan. They express simple Scandinavian design at its best whilst coming across warm and welcoming.
About the glazing
The new Pale grey glaze with small iron spots emerges individually during the 1230 °C burning process and visually come across as little freckles. This glaze is available for the Jar Vase and the new Round vase and it is a low and subtle design perfect for creating an aesthetic still-life at home – with or without flowers. The new Tenmoku glaze in black with individually appearing Iron marks on the rim, emerges during the burning process. It gives a both raw and elegant look – fit for flowers or simply as a decorative sculpture.
